Selena Brown-Donkor, the Founder and Events Director of the Fitness Blastoff, has always had a passion for dance and fitness. When she gained her Exercise to Music certification whilst working as a full-time Communications Officer, she wanted to bring something fun and unique to the fitness industry that will engage women of all backgrounds, especially African and Caribbean women, into fitness.
Selena wanted to further promote the Afro-Caribbean culture through dance and fitness in an entertaining, authentic and simple way to get people having a BLAST whilst they worked out to the music they knew and enjoyed. That's when the Fitness Blastoff was born.
The first Fitness Blastoff was held back in August 2013 with a group of 30 lovely ladies which has since grown into a larger network and community of 300+ ladies who want to get fit, dance and have a BLAST to the music they know and love.
In addition to that, Selena still works as a full-time Creative Marketing and Communications Officer and still finds the time to ensure the Fitness Blastoff continues to develop.
